Syahrul Hidayat is co-investigator on this project. He is a faculty member of the Department of Political Science at the University of Indonesia, and an Honorary Research Fellow in the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter, UK. As a political scientist, his research focuses on political Islam in Turkey and Indonesia. He is also the president of the Indonesian Consortium for Political Research.

Kevin W. Fogg is the lead investigator on this project, which was completed when he was employed as the Albukhary Foundation Fellow in the History of Islam in Southeast Asia at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies and Islamic Centre Lecturer at the Faculty of History, University of Oxford. He now works as the Associate Director of the Carolina Asia Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Muhammad Putra Syah was a research assistant for the data collection and data entry phase of the project. He graduated from the political science department of the University of Indonesia in the 2011 intake, and he is interested in the intersection of Indonesian politics, political economy, and Islamic politics.

Teuku Harza Mauludi was a research assistant for the data collection and data entry phase of the project. He is a graduate of political science at the University of Indonesia who is interested in local political issues and political identity.

Muhammad Imam was a research assistant for the data collection and data entry phase of the project. He is a graduate with a political science degree from the University of Indonesia who is now working on the support team for journal accreditation in Political Science and the ASEAN University Network (AUN).
