The mean age of members in 1956 (when the Konstituante first met) was 44.6. The modal year of birth for members was 1908 (with 25 members born in that year), making them 48 years old when the Konstituante first met. The oldest member, Muhammad Sudja’i of Masjumi, claimed to have been born on 12 Sha’ban 1270 of the Hijri calendar (mid-May 1854), making him 102 years old for the opening session. (This also makes him thirty years older than the next oldest member, and is fairly suspect.) The youngest member, Siti Djamrud Daeng Tjaja of NU, was born in 1931, making her 25 years old for the opening session.
Among the four major parties, PKI was the youngest, with a mean age of 39.1. Masjumi was the oldest of the big four, with a mean age of 47.1, although PSII and Perti (also Islamic parties in the top ten) had older members, on average.
